Today we recognize Equality Now, an advocacy group striving for the equality and safety of women around the world. The organization was founded in 1992 and works with women’s and human rights groups. Equality Now utilizes media to promote awareness and combat the injustices against women and girls, most notably discrimination in law, sexual violence, female genital mutilation (FGM) and trafficking. Please visit http://www.equalitynow.org/ for more information.
Working with two of its partners, Center for Human Rights and Development (CHRD) and Kembatti Menti Gezzima (KMG), Equality Now will be presenting a two part piece titled FGM Girls. Part one, from CHRD, presents two sisters as they travel to a Kenyan school to openly discuss FGM with the students, and the second part is an Ethiopian TV report provided by KMG.
